Vision & impact
Education is the main solution in the fight against poverty. Woord en Daad views education as a vehicle for realising self-reliance. We want to make a genuine difference in the lives of the poor by using your money as effectively as possible.
Vision
Woord en Daad's fight against poverty is based on the following concepts:
- Theory of change
- Importance of family structures for individual and social development
- Sustainable change in lifestyle, behaviour and how people think, in both the Netherlands and in the South
- Co-responsibility with local partners, like the government and the private sector
- Coordinating and facilitating role of Woord en Daad
Impact
Woord en Daad does far more than just funding projects. Together with our local partners, we seek to impact the lives of the people our projects help. The figures below give an indication of the impact our work in the South has.

In 2010 these results were achieved with € 37 million in funding. Just 10% of this amount was used for overheads.
