“We realized that we live a relatively wealthy life. However, for a lot of children it is not obvious that they can go to school and hear about the Word of God,” Corina explains. She took a look at the website of Woord en Daad and is now sponsor of Gay Seogo, a 9-year-old from Burkina Faso.
Corina, married to Henri and mother of Job (4) and Hannah (1,5), has a picture of Gay. “We told our children where he lives and why we support him. Every night we pray for him. Our son also prays for Gay when he goes to sleep,” says Corina.
Receiving and sending mail
Family Weerheim regularly receives mail from their sponsor child. “I really enjoy receiving mail from our sponsor child. Gay tells us how he is doing and often includes a drawing of himself.” Twice a year, Corina herself sends mail to Gay. “Together with the children we are always looking for something fun to send, for example stickers or a coloring book.” Before the family sponsored Gay, they had another sponsor child from Woord en Daad. “One day, we received a picture with the things we sent to him. It was super nice to see that this actually arrived!” Corina says enthusiastically.
Impact of sponsorship
“Sponsoring a child is really worth it,” Corina emphasizes. “Sponsor children receive quality education, they can go to school where they learn a lot. They also learn about the Bible and it is beautiful to read how that helps them. They are so happy knowing that there is always Someone who listens to them and cares for them!”
