You can only grow if you are fed. That principle also applies to the work of Woord en Daad. Thanks to our income we could do our work. The faithful support of our donors is like a constant stream of water that keeps the soil moist. Just like farmer Marlon in Nicaragua irrigates his land to see the coffee plants grow.
In 2015 we received € 29,247,833 (USD 33,408,741) from individual donors, companies, funds and the government. With this our work could continue. A fall in our income meant that we were facing practical challenges. Nevertheless, we also see positive trends. We saw a rise in income from companies and institutional funds and family foundations. This is a hopeful sign! Income from private donors, however, was lower than expected, especially in December. In combination with a decrease in government grants, our actual income was eventually below the budget amount. Thanks to a good system for carefully monitoring income and expenditure we could respond to these trends in good time.
