On 22 March 2022, a delegation of INCE Burkina Faso had the honour to meet with the new Minister of National Education. Ollé Patrice Kam: ‘The meeting went very well. Minister Bilgo made sure there was a relaxed atmosphere.’
The purpose of the meeting was dual. Patrice: ‘We had the opportunity to congratulate him on his new position and to encourage him in his role, but we also exchanged perspectives on our partnership with his government department.’
The INCE delegation shared their vision of systemic change with the Minister. ‘We explained the situation on the PME fund we applied for and the implementation of a new ministry department for quality education. We informed the Minister that a consortium already exists with CB to participate in the mobilisation of resources via the multiplier fund.’
‘In his response, the Minister said that he was sensitive to this issue given the fact that the country lacks resources. He said that he was already informed about the PME fund for which we applied in December. The issue of the establishment of a new ministry department for strategic improvement of education is part of the pending files that were left by the previous administration for immediate processing. He reassured us that he was “moving away from protocol to a more humane approach” and ended our meeting by asking us to propose the “next steps”; the things we want him to do in the coming days.
We listed the following three:
- Confirm to us the establishment of a new ministry department for strategic improvement of education
- Instruct them to receive us on the Multiplier Fund file
- Meet us for feedback and follow-up.
The minister asked us to pray for him and the ministry. After this prayer, we took a souvenir photo which you see at the top of this article. We give thanks to God in Jesus Christ who has made us find grace and favour before this man!’
