From the 16th until the 28th of October, project leader Jaco Ottevanger visited Nepal. During his meeting with ECEC, they talked about the next steps in the project.
Jaco: ‘Right now, we have a one-year bachelor’s program for teachers in Kathmandu, but we aim to roll this program out in all regions of Nepal. In cooperation with other universities and schools in Nepal, we think this must be achievable. This way, we hope to improve the quality of education throughout the country.’
Plans have also been made to link the model schools of the INTENT project to a sponsorship project in Nepal, whereby the poorest of the poor gain access to quality education in schools.
Jaco: ‘It is great to see that we can take these steps, as a result of the experience that our partner Driestar Christian University has built up in recent years. With all the knowledge we have gained, we can now expand our impact and have hundreds of teachers participating in the bachelor’s program in the coming years!’
