The last 3 weeks Woord en Daad has been working on program plans for 2021. Within the Sponsorship Program we’ve set some strategic goals we want to reach by the end of 2021. In this article you will read more about this as well as our growth ambition. We can’t reach our goals without your input, so please read further!
Focal policy themes
The coming 5 years all programs of Woord en Daad will work towards 3 policy themes:
- Reaching the unreached
- Value-based systemic change
- Pro-poor climate resilience
Over the coming years, these themes will be addressed in all projects, of course in close cooperation with all our partner organizations. For the Sponsorship Program, ‘Reaching the unreached’ is the most important policy theme. Project Leaders of the Education Program will discuss the policy themes with you to look for ways to implement the themes in your specific context.
Our worldwide Sponsorship Program reaches around 30.000 children a year with Christian education and serves them in their basic needs in order to bring hope for the future. For 2021, we really want to expand the program and give more children access to education. We will do this by starting a sponsorship project for 100 children in Uganda, in collaboration with our existing partner organisation AMG Uganda. Besides this, we are also looking out to find 2 new partner organisations to expand our existing sponsorship network, preferably in Ethiopia and Nepal.

What do we want to reach in 2021?
Less paper work makes our work easier! Due to COVID-19 we were urged to start this process more rapidly.
- Investment in partner quality and performance management
- Improved worldwide engagement
We want to strengthen our network by stimulating engagement between partner organisations. By organizing partner webinars and sharing stories we hope you get inspired to keep up your good work.
- Reduction of child leavings with 5%
- Marketing automation
In 2021 we will start working with marketing automation to strengthen our marketing and communication strategy and involve sponsors more personally.
We offer a diverse range of sponsoring options. For instance: we are starting TVET sponsoring (sponsor a student) and have started with Dolores (sponsor a child and family) and Tsjaad (sponsor an extremely vulnerable child). In 2021, we will start with more projects on ‘prevention and restoration of child exploitation’.
With the described strategic goals we have set a growth ambition. In 2021 we want to reach a:
- 30% increase of new sponsors
- 10% decrease of leaving sponsors
- Net growth in 2021 of +500
(This year, until now, our net growth is: +125)
