The corona crisis affects all of us. People here in the Netherlands, but also farmers, families and entrepreneurs in Africa, Asia and Latin America. From all corners of the world we are getting updates about a growing number of people infected with Covid-19, governmental measures and lockdowns.
Since we know first-hand about the lack of clean drinking water, hygiene and health care in many of the countries we work in, we are greatly worried. How to take care of good hygiene without clean water? How to have enough to eat when there is no work tomorrow? How to protect your child when keeping distance is impossible in a slum?
Making the difference
Our partners want to be there for these vulnerable people, especially now. In the Philippines our partner distributes food packages to people who are not allowed to leave their homes. In Haiti families with vulnerable children who cannot go to school, are visited, of course with proper social distance. In Chad we are trying to get tailors – via the Job Booster program – to produce face masks.
Woord en Daad is engaging with its partners and looking how the programs can continue despite the world wide crisis that is also affecting the economy. Especially during these times we should not forget the vulnerable people. This crisis hits them hard.
Connected. Always. Especially now!
